Paul Gene Masters(1935 - 2014)
1935 ~ 2014
Granbury, TX-Paul Gene Masters, 79, passed away Friday, July 25, 2014, surrounded by his family.
Celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Acton United Methodist Church. Interment: At a later date in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pecan Plantation EMS, 9518 Monticello Drive, Granbury, Texas 76049.
Paul was born April 20, 1935, in Goldthwaite to Cleburne and Florence Masters. He grew up in Dallas but spent many summers at his grandparents' farm in Goldthwaite, creating mischief with his cousins and memories that lasted a lifetime. He graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas in 1953 and went on to attend Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Corps of Engineers and became an Aggie for life. It was during this time that he went on a blind date and met the love of his life, Gail, whom he would cherish for the next 60 years. After graduating with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering and marrying Gail, he served in the U.S. Army. Paul began his career as an engineer designing components for commercial aircraft. He loved his work. He moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he retired from LTV/E-Systems after a 40-year career. Referred to as "one of the good guys" by those he mentored, Paul got a kick out of explaining how things work and always had ideas for how something could be done better. Paul was a man of strong faith, a devoted husband, father and grandfather. We will miss his cute smile and remember the stories he told about writing on the back of a shovel by candlelight, golfing, fishing on the dock, playing dominoes and putting puzzles together. Peace be with you, Paul. You're home.
Survivors include Wife, Gail; daughters, Kimberly Herring of Colleyville and Sandra and son-in-law, Jon Debry, of Salt Lake City; granddaughters, Lindsay of Dallas and Amanda of Austin; grandsons, Eric, Peter and Eli, all of Salt Lake City; and his many friends.
