Bill Wofford Dec. 17, 1946 - April 16, 2014

Bill Wofford, 67, of Alvin, Texas passed away at home in Alvin on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. He was born December 17, 1946 to Paul J. Wofford and Edna Allie Wersebe Wofford in Luling, Texas. He graduated from Alvin High School in 1965 and went on to earn a sociology degree from Texas A&M in 1969. He worked as an Alvin Post Office mail carrier for over 32 years. Bill was passionate about fishing, dominoes and grandkids.

He was a member of South Park Baptist Church for almost 30 years. His faith in God sustained him throughout his battle with cancer. Bill wished for all to know that his death is just the beginning of life, thanks to God’s gift of salvation to all who believe in Him.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Edna Wofford.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Johnnie Wofford. They were married in Angleton on March 6, 1970. Bill is lovingly remembered by his children, Shelley Yetter and husband Chris, and Billy Wofford and wife Carrie; five grandchildren, Justin, Clayton and Lauren Yetter, and Cole and Adalynn Wofford; brother Paul Wofford and wife Mary; sister Nelva Urick and husband Willie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Friday, April 18, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, TX 77546 (281) 992-7200.

The funeral service will held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Heights Baptist Church, 1591 County Road 144, Alvin, TX 77511, with Rev. Dr. Howard Daniel officiating. Interment will follow at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin.

Pallbearers will include Jimmy Wofford, Edward Wofford, Gary Wofford, Larry Williams, Phillip Winget and Chad Vowell.

Honorary pallbearers will include Southpark Baptist Church Adult Men’s Class.

n lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alvin Meals on Wheels P.O. Box 2086, Alvin TX 77512-2086.
