GUNTER, Miles Gordon P.

Miles Gordon P. Gunter, 75, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014.

Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m., Thursday, April 17, at the Veteran's Administration in Amarillo. Graveside services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Miles was born Aug. 23, 1938, in Moreauville, LA to Gordon Pennington and Lottie Gunter. He proudly served his country in the Marines during the Vietnam War. Miles earned a bachelor's degree at Texas A&M and a law degree from University of Texas. He practiced law in Austin most of his life.

Survivors include two daughters, Chenelle Bentley and husband Joe of Amarillo and Coral S. Gunter of Austin; a son, Forrest Jordan P. Gunter of Austin; four grandchildren, Colette Wilcoxen, Justin Wilcoxen, Serenity Bentley and Felicity Bentley; three brothers, Forrest Patrick Gunter of Austin, Edmund Gunter and Harry Gunter, both of Mississippi; and a sister, Charlotte Wood of Galveston.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be made to Fisher House Foundation, Inc., 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850.
