Richard Frank Himebrook(1943 - 2014)
Richard Frank Himebrook, 70, of Bandera, Texas, passed away on April 5, 2014, in Kerrville, Texas. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, on July 16, 1943 to Frank and Helen Himebrook.

Ric has been a Christian since his youth. He married Roberta Harkey on Sep 7, 1968, at Laredo Air Force Base.

Ric was preceded in death by his parents and his only sister, Virginia Himebrook.

He is survived by his wife, son Leslie, daughter-in-law Andrea and his grandsons Andrew and John Himebrook.

Ric graduated from University of New Mexico in 1965 with a bachelor of science in electrical engineering and from Texas A&M in 1974 with a masters in meteorology. He served as a meteorologist for the Air Force for 21 years, retiring at Holloman AFB as a Major serving twice as a unit commander. Ric then served as a meteorologist for the Army at White Sands Missile Range for 12 years. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.

Ric and Roberta lived in Alamogordo for 28 years, where they were active at Grace United Methodist Church. Richard served on the New Mexico Search and Rescue Review Board and New Mexico Emergency Service Council. He was a State Police Incident Commander. He was integral in the development of the New Mexico SAR program as a leader of people and manager of SAR training and events as an Incident Commander.

Ric was active in Civil Air Patrol since his youth. He served as Alamogordo Squadron Commander, 1988-1990, then in various positions of the New Mexico Wing staff culminating with Wing Commander 2007-2011. He was selected as the 2014 Southwest Region (six-state region) Senior Member of the Year for outstanding lifetime service.

Ric and Roberta moved from Alamogordo to Bandera in 2011 and quickly became active in their local community. They both became members of First United Methodist of Bandera, where Ric was selected as a trustee.
