Ed Sargent

TEMPLE, Texas — Ed L. Sargent, 89, of Temple, Texas, died April 2, 2014.

He was born May 2, 1924, to Eddie Lee and Ona Sargent in Silsbee, Texas. He attended school in Silsbee and graduated from Texas A&M in 1949. Mr. Sargent served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Dow Chemical in Russellville. He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Russellville and active in Rotary International.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of Temple, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Hamp Kennedy; son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Stephanie Sargent; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, April 7, at The Temple Meridian with Jordan Hubbard presiding. Inurnment will be in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killen at a later time. Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or First United Methodist Church of Russellville.
