Melanie Beth McMurry, 50 of Rocheport, MO, passed away October 24, 2013 at University Hospital & Clinics.
A Celebration of Life will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Melanie and Michael’s farm, 102 County Road 433, Rocheport, MO. Private family burial was held at Green Acres Cemetery, Rocheport, MO.
Melanie was born on September 4, 1963, in Bryan, Texas, to Nelville Bond and Betty Jean White McMurry, and they preceded her in death.
Melanie and Michael were together for eighteen years since the day they first met, the autumnal equinox of 1995. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife and Fishery Science from Texas A & M University. She received her Doctor of Medicine Degree
from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. She was on staff at the University of Missouri Hospital & Clinics as an anesthesiologist and on the faculty of the University of Missouri School of Medicine. Through her career, she was involved in
the saving of many lives, more than can be counted. Her passion was alpacas and any animal who she could give a home.
She is survived by her husband: Michael Brooks of Rocheport; one sister; Malinda McMurry and husband Geoffrey Gearner of Morehead, KY; one brother; Mark McMurry of Arlington, TX. He is also survived by two nieces, Malinda’s daughters, Olivia and Clarissa; and
one nephew, Mark’s son, Bodhi.
