Harris, Cheryl K. Memorial services for Dr. Cheryl K Harris will be held Wednesday January 16th 2013 at 10 am at Spring Valley United Methodist Church; 7700 Spring Valley Rd, Dallas, Texas 75254. Born in Dallas on July 31, 1956 and passed away on January 7 2013. Cheryl attended Bryan Adams High School and Texas A & M University class of 1978. Cheryl also attended Texas A & M School of Veterinary Medicine graduating with the class of 1980. Upon graduation from Veterinary School Cheryl accepted a commission as a Captain in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corp. Her Duty Station was Fitzsimons Army Medical Research Hospital in Ft Collins Colorado working in their research labs. After a three year tour of activity duty, Cheryl resigned her commission to attend Colorado State University as a resident leading to board certification through the ACVIM in both Internal Medicine and Oncology Two years later she returned to Dallas to open her first practice as a Specialist. During Dr. Harris' academic years, she was also the author of over a dozen articles appearing in various Veterinary journals Dr. Harris is the founder of Veterinary Oncology and Internal Medicine in Dallas and later changing to a new location and a rename of Veterinary Specialist of North Texas, Specializing in the practice of Veterinary Oncology and Internal Medicine She later became the Co-founder of another practice as Animal Cancer Center where CT and Radiation was available for Cancer in Dogs and Cats Dr. Harris is known for her service to the Region and to the referring Veterinary Community which she loved. Cheryl is also known by all her clients as an intelligent, compassionate Doctor who cared for them and each of the pets under her care. Cheryl is survived by her husband William (Bill) O'Neal and her son Greg Bennett. Cheryl is also survived by three loving step children; Deborah Caillet, Jeff O'Neal and Michael O'Neal one grandson and three granddaughters. Cheryl is survived by her loving father Bruce Harris and step mother Bonnie Harris; two step brothers and one step sister; two step brothers in law and ,their wives, nieces and nephews Cheryl is a lovely person, a great Doctor and will be missed by all who knew her.
