It’s Good Bull that would make even ranger65 proud.
TexAgs.com
, heralded as one of the best-run collegiate affinity sites, and The Association of Former Students, the premier alumni organization, announced Thursday a strategic marketing partnership that will make the Aggie Network better connected to all things Texas A&M.
TexAgs and The Association will work in tandem through both editorial and advertising opportunities to further spread the message of The Aggie Network. The Association will produce unique “Good Bull” stories exemplifying the Aggie Spirit that will be featured on TexAgs.com. Banner ads with Association messaging will also appear throughout the site.
Additionally, The Association will be the exclusive title sponsor of the Aggie Event Calendar, a compilation of upcoming Aggie events around the state of Texas. TexAgs.com compiles, publishes and maintains the calendar. The Association will tap into its relationships with A&M Clubs and chartered Constituent Networks to create awareness with these local organizations about the opportunity for them to feed event listings into the TexAgs event calendar and spread the word about local Aggie gatherings.
“With the popularity of blogs, social networking, and online forums growing every day, the Web has become the communication tool of choice for many Aggies. Partnering with such a successful Aggie-centric online community is a phenomenal opportunity to enhance the Aggie Network even further,” said Larry Cooper ’77, director of marketing and communications for The Association.
TexAgs.com debuted in 1998 as a way for Aggies to connect on topics such as Aggie sports, Texas A&M traditions, and happenings in local areas across Texas. Created independently from Texas A&M, TexAgs.com has become a “virtual tradition” with well over 100,000 unique visitors each month.
Brandon Jones ’95, president of TexAgs, explains, “While Aggie sports remains a hotbed of interest, there are a huge range of topics that are discussed on a daily basis on TexAgs.com. Aggies really connect here, and I’m proud of what this community has grown into.” Jones continues, “The Association is such a well-respected organization that helps Aggies give back and keep Texas A&M a unique American institution. We are excited about what this partnership means to us as well as the entire Aggie Network.”
One of the most famous participants on TexAgs.com was revealed a few weeks ago, when former Texas A&M University President Dr. Robert M. Gates, now Secretary of Defense, revealed that he posted on TexAgs under the handle “ranger65.” Gates would offer insight on university policy and share opinions, but never directly as Gates. Upon outing himself, Gates said, “I have listened and paid more attention to you than you might imagine…and this is a way to reach thousands of Aggies who love their school so much…”
