Light at the end of the tunnel

Since winning the 'most jobs held since graduation' title at our 20th reunion, I am finally starting to look toward retirement. It will be great when I do hit retirement to be able to work full time on the farm. Daniel is already working at it full
time - whipping fence lines into shape and planting our orchards. At this point, just not much income - like most farmers. Our little farm in Johnson County is starting to take shape as a 'diversified agricultural operation'. Ewe Got It Farm produces free
range eggs, fine wool, lamb, pears, and coming soon figs and pomegranates. It has been an eye opener working with lambing, shearing, general health and management after all these years since the Biomedical Science degree. Dealing with droughts and late freezes
also make us appreciate what ag producers go through every day each year.
We will soon start to develop market strategies since we are finally producing commodities. Next major project will be the new catering kitchen so we can host on farm field days. My goal for retirement is to help kids understand where what we eat really
comes from and how to eat well. Anyone with ideas, or who like the local food movement , like Ewe Got it Farm on Facebook (we are near DFW). You can see what Daniel is up to. He is already getting a following with fiber artists, and some foodies and chefs. If
you are going to be up this way give us a call to come visit. Or even better, place an order if you like it really fresh - still on the hoof at this point! Support your local farmer!!!!
