It is Student Counseling HelpLine Awareness Week.
The Student Counseling HelpLine is an important A&M service that many Aggies know little about.
Staffed by fellow Aggies, the HelpLine is available for any current students (or those concerned about a student) to call from 4 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays and 24-hours a day on weekends.
Volunteers are trained and supervised by the Student Counseling Service.
You can reach the HelpLine at (979) 845-2700. The number is also listed on the back of student IDs.
For help when the HelpLine isn’t operating, visit
scs.tamu.edu to make an appointment with an on-staff psychologist. For immediate help, crisis counseling is available at the Student Counseling Service in Cain Hall from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
For those interested in becoming a HelpLine volunteer, visit
scs.tamu.edu and read what current and former HelpLiners have to say about the line. Email Susan Vavra at
susan@scs.tamu.edu for an application.
The HelpLine welcomes, appreciates, and respects everyone. Whether it's after class, in the middle of the night, or on the way home from work, Aggies are available to talk.
No matter the time or issue, the HelpLine is here for Aggies.
