Italy 2014

Donald "Don" George '94 July 3, 2013 8:45 AM

I am planning a family/ anniversary trip to Italy for my family of four.  We have two Daughters who will be 6th and 9th graders at the time of the projected trip.  We have never been on an overseas trip before and are a little overwhelmed by the planning process.   Are there any suggestions as to if it is better to travel on our own and see the sights at our own pace or if it would be best to travel on a pre-planned tour in a larger group.

We generally like to travel and vacation at a very laid back pace.   We are looking at spending ten days to two weeks and are planning on visiting at least Rome and the Tuscan countryside, would like to see the Amalfi coast as well if at all possible.

Cost is a deciding factor and will limit the trip so affordability is a concern; we are willing to do a little extra work to save a little extra for expenses during the trip.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
