Breathe Hope Raises Funds, Awareness For Cystic Fibrosis

STEPHANIE (JETER) CANNON '06, March 30, 2012

Breathe Hope is a student-run nonprofi t organization that strives to raise funds and awareness for cystic fibrosis.

Breathe Hope hosts “Great Strides,” the group’s largest annual fundraiser. In addition to financial support from donors to The Association of Former Students’ Annual Fund, Breathe Hope was able to use physical resources, including tables, chairs and tents, for the event.

“Having to pay for all the supplies would have surely put a dent in our budget,” Director Donika Shpati ’12 wrote in a letter to The Association. “Instead ALL our profi ts went straight to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Thanks to The Association and our community, we’re able to make an impact for those with CF.”

Student organizations such as Breathe Hope benefit from the many services provided by The Association of Former Students, including free printing and copying. These services help the groups cut down on operational costs and allow them to use funds for their primary mission.

“Breathe Hope is incredibly grateful for the services granted to us by The Association. We have had amazing support from them year after year,” Donika wrote. “We hope to give back so students can continue to have the wonderful opportunities we do!”
