Dan Henard, Jr., age 73, of Wellington died Friday, March 17, 2017.

Services will at 3:00 p.m Monday., March 20, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Wellington, with Rev. Gene Weinette, pastor officiating. Burial will be in the North Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Adams Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Yates Parker, Jerry Lewis, Jimmy Brown, Leonard Kent, Chip Lee, Ralph Owens, and Dennis Cudd.

Dan was born October 10, 1943 in Dallas, Texas to Dan and Nan Henard. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1962. Dan attended Texas A&M University and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Range Science in 1966.

Dan married Shirley Peters on June 25, 1966 at the First United Methodist Church in Wellington, Texas. Dan was a member of the First United Methodist Church serving on various church committees and has been the Finance Committee Chairman for many years.

Dan was a partner in Henard Farms with his son, Rex Henard, farming cotton, peanuts, wheat and raising livestock. Dan was a member of the Farm Credit System, Rolling Plains PCA Board, First Ag Credit, Farmer’s Co-op Society, Salt Fork Soil and Water Conservation District Board, Mesquite Ground Water Conservation District, Resource Conservation and Development Council, Panhandle Regional Planning Commission Board, Collingsworth County Hospital Board, Collingsworth County ASCS committee, National Farm Credit Council, Capital Farm Credit Board of Directors, Wellington Lions Club, Farmers Coop Gin Board, and Amarillo Regional Planning Commission Board.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Nan Henard, and one grandson, Daniel Jackson Henard.

Dan is survived by his wife, Shirley of Wellington, a son Rex Henard and wife Amy of Wellington; a daughter, Beki Mitchell and husband, Trent of Mounds, OK; five grandchildren, Morgan Mitchell, Cameron Mitchell, Rileigh Henard, Anna Henard, and Evelyn Henard; and three brothers, Joe Henard and wife Kay of Amarillo; Larry Henard and wife Nancy of Wellington; Andy Henard and wife Deltah of Wellington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 767, Wellington, TX 79095.
