White Creek Apartments, at corner of University and Discovery drives.

These apartments opened in 2015 on West Campus -- they are campus housing, like the dorms. They hold 1,200 current students, primarily freshmen.

But they are also quite far away from the Academic Plaza, and from the atmosphere that fills main campus as Silver Taps approaches.

On March 7, BCAMC is invited to bring a little Old Ag spirit, meet the freshmen and other residents of TAMU's White Creek Apartments, and ride the bus with them to attend Silver Taps.

At the reception in White Creek's activity center, we will share some light refreshments, Aggie memories, and review information on the three students for whom we will stand at Silver Taps that night: Ronald Thiessen '19, Alex Jones '18 and Ross Lightfoot '17.

Residents and advisors in White Creek are encouraged about the possibilities of this partnership with BCAMC and of sharing the Aggie Spirit across generations.

[[UPDATE with latest parking info 3/6/2017 here]] IMPORTANT: In order for me to secure a parking space for you, please email me at sowen94@aggienetwork.com or go to our Facebook page and indicate that you are “GOING” to this event. (If you’re not certain you can make it, please click “INTERESTED,” and you’ll get any updates about the event as it approaches.)

Schedule:
9 p.m. -- Please arrive at White Creek -- Informal reception with students in Activity Center
9:30 -- We all board bus to main campus (no bus passes will be necessary)
10:30 -- Silver Taps
11 -- Board bus back to White Creek, arrive about 11:15

I realize this is a long time commitment late at night! Just remember: It's that kind of time commitment for these students, too. Silver Taps itself lasts perhaps 20-30 minutes, but for the vast majority of Texas A&M's current student body, it's no longer as simple as walking out the door of your dorm.

But Silver Taps is still not only an important ceremony, but an essential, transforming Aggie experience that binds us all together, and that is what I hope we will all have together -- "Old Ags" and new.

If you have RSVPed “GOING” on our Facebook event, I will have a parking permit for you to allow you to park in Lot 114 behind the Wehner building.

Email me if you have any questions at all: sowen94@aggienetwork.com

Further details:
We will be boarding A&M bus Route 3, which runs every 20 minutes until midnight. We won’t need bus passes, and it will drop us near the Coke Building.
We will be outside most of the time, of course, so I will keep an eye on the temperature and weather advisories!
