Sarah Til Johnson passed away Friday, December 30, in New Orleans at the age of 41 after a brave struggle with breast cancer.

Sarah was the beloved wife of Kenn Yoshizato and devoted mother of Ty and Koji Yoshizato, ages 6 and 4. The cherished daughter of Don and Martha Johnson, she is survived by her parents as well as her three sisters and brothers-in-law, Julianne Maerschel, Ginger and Jamey Hamilton, and Terri and Christian Stover, her seven nieces and nephews, Isabella, Kurt, Alexis, Viktoria, Cal, Sarah Katherine, and Christian, a close-knit family that treasured Sarah deeply. Sarah was the grand-daughter of Gertrude and Vaughn Watson and Hazel and Hewitt Johnson. Sarah also leaves a circle of friends whom she regarded as family.

A native of Monroe, Sarah touched lives in many places. After graduating from River Oaks School, Sarah attended Texas A&M University, earning a B.S. in Psychology. She returned to Monroe, earning her Masters from ULM, and then moved to San Diego, where she earned her Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from Alliant University. In each of these places, she made a host of life-long friends who will miss her dearly.

Sarah then began working as an organizational psychologist for the U.S. Government, first for the U.S. Navy and then for the Office of Personnel Management, serving for more than 10 years and earning the respect and friendship of many valued colleagues.

Sarah will be remembered by those who love her as kind, insightful, fun-loving, generous, and loyal. Those whom she loved felt it, as she loved deeply and well. We lost her too soon, but her beautiful soul will continue to live on and touch all of our hearts.

The family is planning a memorial service to be held in Monroe on February 18th. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to some of Sarah's favorite charities (she had many), including St. Jude's, ASPCA, the Foundation , or to the .
