Lynn Pittard
March 1, 1931 - October 12, 2016

Lynn Pitts Pittard, 85, born in Coleman County near Voss, TX on March 1, 1931, passed away on October 12, 2016.
Lynn graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1948. He graduated Texas A&M University in 1952 with a degree in Range Science and commissioned as a 2nd Lt. While at Texas A&M, Lynn met Barbara Brooks from Brady, TX on a blind date. They married November 23, 1952 at Barbara's Grandmother's house. He shipped off to the Korean War immediately after the wedding.
Lynn served as forward artillery observer during the Korean War. He received a Bronze Star for pulling his wounded commanding officer to safety during enemy fire. He proudly served 20 years in the Army reserves, with a final assignment at the Pentagon in Strategic Planning, retiring as Lt. Colonel.
After the war, Lynn served as County Extension Agent in Floydada. He returned to Texas A&M to pursue a Master's Degree in Ag. Journalism while working for the Texas A&M Extension Service. In 1963, he moved his family to Hereford, to develop his patented chemical formula, the first Agricultural Dye Marker marketed in the U.S. He served as vice president, developer, and marketer traveling to over 38 states for Lan Products of Midland.
Lynn devoted his life to service to others; various roles in the church, Santa Anna National Bank board member, Senior Citizens Center, and many other organizations over time. He loved his family; caring for wife, Barbara, through several illnesses, and attending his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren events whenever possible.
Lynn was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, his parents Will Henry Sr. and Janie Pittard, and his two older brothers Will Henry Pittard Jr. and Harold Pittard.
He is survived by his children, Joel and Cheri Pittard of Boise, ID, Michael and Sharon Pittard of Marble Falls, Laurie Pittard of Brownwood, and James and Suzanne Pittard of Conroe. Six grandchildren Jeremy and Amy Pittard of Vacaville, CA, Sean and Bethany Rice of Colorado Springs, CO, Jamie and Lindsay Knight of Lafayette, LA, Giovanni and Amanda Parra of Youngsville, LA, Whitney Pittard of Austin, and Patrick and Kayci Hill of Round Rock. There are 13 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. One brother-in-law and two sister-in-laws Lee Roy and Barbara Brooks of Las Cruces, NM and Bernelle Pittard of Austin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials for a student scholarship through the First United Methodist Church of Brownwood.
