Scot Walker '90 October 24, 2016 2:27 PM updated: November 9, 2016 11:12 AM

Starting Nov. 9, it will be illegal to use a hand-held communication device while operating a vehicle or bicycle in College Station city limits.

That means no phone calls or texting unless your phone is in hands-free mode using Bluetooth or the car’s audio system.

The city has created a Frequently Asked Questions page at http://bit.ly/2cps3Gl.

In other local traffic news, the speed limit on Earl Rudder Freeway--that's the Highway 6 bypass around Bryan-College Station--is going down.

According to the Bryan District office of the state transportation department, the department was to begin installing new 70-mph speed limit signs Nov. 7 along the 20-mile stretch from OSR on the north end of the county to the southern city limit of College Station.
