A crew of almost 20 workers Wednesday began laying down sections of fresh grass turf over the dirt surface that served as the construction equipment hub throughout the winter and spring. Finally, a football-ready field started to take shape.
Less than a quarter of the field was complete as of Wednesday afternoon as crews meticulously prepped the leveled dirt base with grates, rolled out the sod and watered it. Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp said the fresh grass is a sure sign of progress leading up to the home opener against Ball Sate.
