Good Bull: Couple's Adopted Teen Gets An Aggie Welcome

Mark Gremillion '05 January 28, 2015 1:11 PM

My wife and I always had a heart for adoption. After the birth of two beautiful children, we decided that the time was right to grow our family through adoption. After one heck of a crazy journey, we were led to a 13-year-old Chinese boy. We knew that this was the child meant for us and immediately began the process of adopting him.

We live in Navasota, so when the Aggie Network appealed on social media for Aggies to fill the Ring Plaza with maroon for the SEC Network's cameras in August 2014, we were all in! We enjoyed spending time with other Aggies that day, and were very proud to see our 2-year-old and 4-year-old sing the War Hymn.

The cameras left the plaza, but we stayed around to get a quick picture with the yell leaders. While in line we had an epiphany--we should ask the yell leaders to record a personalized message for our son, Zack! What better way was there to welcome the newest member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class Of 2024?! They did, and we had many oohhs and aahhs from the crowd. We went about our merry way filled with the Spirit that can ne’er be told.

Upon arriving home, I had a surprise waiting for me in my social media inbox. Some of the employees of The Association also recorded a message! Both my wife and I were in tears while watching. We couldn’t believe that these amazing people took time out of their schedule to help a lonely, 13-year-old boy in a foreign country understand what it was like to be an Aggie.

Well, he’s home now! We arrived home on December 19, and our son is amazing!  He can’t speak English except for a few basic sayings, but he knows what Aggies are, where College Station is, how to whoop and the kid knows our War Hymn!

Attached are a few pictures of our son on our Gotcha Day (December 8)Thank you so very much for your kind hearts, and may God bless each and every one of you!

Blessings,

Mark '05 and Whitney '05 Gremillion. along with Riley (Class of 2032), Luke (Class of 2035) and Zachary (Class of 2024) … Whoop!
