Just a few words about the Aggie Ring, from an old Aggie with three Aggie brothers and three Aggie kids, plus other Aggie relatives.
The Aggie Ring
by Monte Swatzell '48
Heavy and gold with traditions forever
Emblems of history and design of such class
Every facet a strength and ties to never sever
Cherished always in field, on ranch and top brass
Many have earned it with brain and sweat
Others have yearned it with heart and soul
With such pride to wear it, to never forget
Those stalwart comrades, who'll not again answer the roll
The fish stripe and chevrons later to come
The bull ring and board, night runs and rams
Honors and grade points, Corps trips and weekend passes home
All can step to the cadence of one's own command
Serge and brass, roses pinned by proud sweet mothers
Every day a little closer to the cherished reward
Company and dorm life so different from any other
Decisions made often to quit or push forward
Coeds, daydodgers, nonregs, and Corps each such a great part of Aggieland
We are the Aggies, the Aggies are we, all for each of us, each for all of us
The Corps march into Kyle Field, the Aggies so proud of the Aggie Band
The 'Stars and Stripes' and the 'Lone Star' will always fly high on this campus
Yet, always in the thoughts of those who started
To wildcat and grab pooch, to gig 'em and 'War Hymn' sing
To strive for the future, a life still uncharted
Only those who want it enough will wear the Aggie ring!
