The Association of Former Students supports Texas A&M University and former student programs that promote the Aggie Spirit and strengthen the Aggie Network.

Support for student organizations, beloved traditions, scholarships and former student programs is made possible by the generous annual donations of former students, Aggie parents, Texas A&M faculty and staff and other active supporters of the Aggie Network.

Each year, The Association receives hundreds of thank you notes like the one below from Aggie scholarship recipients, student organizations, teachers and other beneficiaries.

On this Thanksgiving week, and every day, The Association thanks you for your commitment to Texas A&M.

Sept. 12, 2012

Dear donors of The Association of Former Students,

I would like to thank you very much for The Association of Former Students school award that you have given me to assist in furthering my education. I truly appreciate this awardy, and it will be a tremendous help to me as I focus on the continuation of my academic success at Texas A&M University.

To briefly introduce myself, I am currently a junior in college, majoring in chemistry. When I was a freshman in high school, I decided to study chemistry because I have a great interest in discovering new sources of energy and improving the current energy system. Although my dream was vague for a while, my dream became realistic and certain after I joined a research group at Texas A&M and started focusing on my interest rather than studying without a clear purpose. I recently took a graduate-level course to have a better understanding of my project and have participated int eh undergraduate summer research program at Texas A&M University. In order for me to get closer to my goal, I also plan to achieve a Ph.D. in chemistry, as it will provide a better understanding of what I do not know yet.

My family is having financial issues as my father and my brother have recently passed away. For a while, I honestly could not help myself from focusing on finances and changing my goal. However, your considerate assistance makes me realize that I am meant to follow my dream.

I truly want you to know that your generosity truly helps me to focus on my studies. It has impacted me greatly. I sincerly thank you again for your kindness.
