News from Texas A&M University Reveille VII, the school's mascot for the last seven years and the highest ranking member of the Corps of Cadets, will retire at the end of the spring semester. Her retirement home has not been chosen, but already a committee of students, administrators and Company E-2 members are considering her new location, and are starting the search for the next mascot. Reveille VII has been the busiest and most accessible mascot in school history, and though members of E-2 would like for the next mascot to remain a collie, school officials say the committee will consider different breeds, ages or even a male dog. Reveille VIII is expected to make her debut at the start of football season. For more on Reveille's retirement click here. Back to Top

The observatory is on the highest point of the Antarctic Plateau—a location chosen based on information gathered over multiple centuries to find the best place on the planet to observe the universe. Six international institutions are part of the project, including Texas A&M astrophysicist Dr. Lifan Wang. It has been called a monumental achievement for ground-based astronomy. Texas A&M's spring semester enrollment is at a record 43,827. University officials announced the increase earlier this month saying, compared to last spring, enrollment is up 1,453 students. The fall semester saw a record enrollment number as well at 46,542. Because of the large number of students graduating in December, the spring semester's tally is traditionally lower than fall's final enrollment. Get more information by clicking here. Back to Top
