Nomination Call For 2009 Distinguished Alumnus Award
The Distinguished Alumnus Award is the highest honor bestowed upon a former student
of Texas A&M University. The award is jointly sponsored by The Association of Former
Students and Texas A&M and recognizes those former students who have made significant
contributions to society and whose accomplishments and careers have brought honor
and distinction to Texas A&M and The Association of Former Students. For award criteria
and a nomination form, as well as a list of previous recipients, visit

All Aggie Hullabaloo Scheduled
Reed Arena will become a mini-Aggieland Sept. 26, the night before the Army football
game. The Classes of ’78, ’83, ’88 and ’98, as well as the Department of Ecosystem
Science and Management, are combining their reunion activities and inviting all
Aggies to reconnect with the A&M campus. The evening will provide Aggie game day
atmosphere and activities for Aggies of all ages—especially our future former students.
Access to campus resources like The Prospective Student Center, Career Center resources,
Ring Office resources and a place to resupply their former student window decals
will be open to former students. We can’t wait to see you at the All Aggie Hullabaloo!

Aggie Ring Orders And Repairs
The Aggie Ring Program is accepting Ring orders for qualified current and former
students until Sept. 12. Aggie Rings ordered by this time will be delivered on Nov.
14 at G. Rollie White Coliseum. Aggie Rings may be ordered in person, by mail or
by fax. The Aggie Ring Program can assist you if your Aggie Ring needs to be resized
or repaired. Stop by our office at our

Career Center Announces Enhanced Former Student Services
The Texas A&M University Career Center is excited to announce the addition of AggieCareers.com. Through this new online web portal, former students can access a suite of career resources, including professional advising, career interest assessments, strategies for utilizing the Aggie Network, and an Aggie-only career board. Best of all, the portal is completely free for
former students!
AggieCareers.com is designed to meet the needs of experienced former students who graduated from Texas A&M one or more years ago. Recent graduates with graduation dates of less than one year can continue to utilize all of the Career Center’s services for current students, including on-campus interviews.
AggieCareers.com is an affiliate of Texas A&M University and was developed through a collaborative effort by the Career Center and its affiliate partners, with continued support from The Association of Former Students.

Texas A&M University tied for ninth place among public institutions in a Forbes
magazine survey that ranks earnings of alumni from around the country with 10 to
20 years of experience. Texas A&M was the only Texas institution ranked among the

Aggie Wins American Gladiator
Tim Oliphant ’97 is the new American Gladiator champion. He graduated with a bachelor’s
degree in kinesiology. Oliphant works as a media director for a Christian summer
camp in Branson, Mo. American Gladiator is a television show that matches a cast
of amateur athletes against each other as well as against the show’s gladiators.

Texas A&M Ranked In The Princeton Review
Texas A&M University was included in The Princeton Review, known for its annual feature of the nation’s best 368 colleges. The review emphasizes undergraduate education and campus life and relies heavily on interviews with students. Class Councils' Maroon Out Committee is gearing up for its 2008 Maroon Out season.
With a new design and the traditional $5 price, Aggies everywhere can enjoy Maroon
Out again in 2008. Check out the new design and information at
maroonout.tamu.edu. Sales begin Aug. 25 with sales 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday
on home game weeks in the MSC/Rudder Breezeway and on Saturday home games in G.

Freshman Convocation Scheduled For The Class Of 2012
Freshman Convocation is a ceremony that welcomes freshmen to Texas A&M University's
community of learners in a manner similar to the community's recognition of students'
graduation at commencement. Texas A&M President Elsa Murano and a faculty member
will speak. Convocation is for freshmen and their families and is planned for 2:30
p.m. Aug. 24 in Reed Arena. Prior to Convocation, there is a Freshman Convocation
Lunch; the Class of 2012 and their families are invited to a meal 11 a.m.-1:45 p.m.
at Sbisa Dining Hall. University representatives will be on hand for informal conversation
with the new students and their families. Lunch tickets are available at the door

President Murano Scheduled To Speak At BioHouston Annual
Luncheon
Texas A&M President Dr. Elsa Murano will speak at the BioHouston luncheon, Bringing
Research to Life 11:30 a.m., Sept. 11 in the Crystal Ballroom of the Rice Hotel
in downtown Houston. This event is an opportunity for Aggies to support our new
president, who will speak about research in the rapidly expanding life sciences—the
cornerstone in Texas A&M’s quest to become a top-10 public institution by 2020.
