Activities Announced For 2007 Football Season
The Texas A&M football team’s challenging schedule this season has the Aggies traveling to play against Miami, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Missouri. If you plan to make a trip to support the Aggies, or if you live near any of these areas, we invite you to join in the away game activities sponsored by The Association of Former Students and the 12th Man Foundation. For details on away game receptions, Yell Practices and pregame activities, go to www.AggieNetwork.com/AwayGames. In addition, The Association invites all Aggies to drop by the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center to visit, relax and enjoy refreshments in the hours leading up to all home games this year.

Call Issued For International Alumnus Award Nominations
The Association of Former Students and Texas A&M University are currently accepting nominations for the 2008 Outstanding International Alumnus Award. Since 1995, this award has honored Texas A&M graduates who were not U.S. citizens when pursuing their degree and who went on to achieve prominence in their fields while remaining loyal to and supportive of Texas A&M. All nominations should be sent to the International Center at the George Bush Presidential Library Complex and postmarked by Wednesday, Sept. 12. The Outstanding International Alumnus Award is presented during International Week in the spring. The Association Welcomes Students Back To Campus
On Aug. 21, The Association hosted its fifth annual Hot Diggity Dog cookout as part of Texas A&M's Gig 'Em Week—the official week of welcoming for students arriving to campus. More than 1,200 students visited the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center to mingle in a festive environment, enjoy free hotdogs and drinks and participate in a special Aggie Yell Practice. 

Fall Reunions Bring Classmates Together
One thing that sets Texas A&M apart from many other schools is the camaraderie that is shared throughout the Aggie Network. An excellent way to take part in that camaraderie is by attending our Class Reunions. If you are wondering when your Class will have its next Reunion, it may be sooner than you think. Aggie Ring Orders And Repairs Available
The Association of Former Students' Aggie Ring Program is taking Aggie Ring orders for qualified individuals. Rings ordered by Friday, Sept. 14, will be delivered on Friday, Nov. 16, at the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center. Rings may be ordered in person, by mail or by fax. The Aggie Ring Program can assist you with your Aggie Ring if it needs to be resized or repaired as well. You can either stop by The Association or mail your Ring directly to Balfour. Texas A&M Announces New Tailgating Policies
Texas A&M officials have introduced a new plan for tailgating on campus, designed to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the thousands of fans who visit Kyle Field this fall. Tailgating-related accidents and injuries at colleges and universities around the nation prompted officials to examine existing policies and take proactive measures to maintain a safe environment. The newly implemented guidelines are the result of extensive discussions with fans and campus representatives. 1,900 Grads Honored At August Commencement
More than 1,900 Texas A&M students received degrees at two separate commencement ceremonies on Aug. 10, at Reed Arena. Of those, 27 graduating members of the Corps of Cadets were commissioned into the military. Texas Railroad Commissioner Michael L. Williams and Vice Chancellor of Agriculture and Life Sciences Elsa A. Murano served as the commencement speakers. In addition, U.S. Secretary of Defense and former Texas A&M University President Robert M. Gates and his wife, Becky, accepted honorary degrees. Jones Elected Chairman Of Board Of Regents
Bill Jones ’81 of Austin was elected chairman of The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents, and John D. White ’70 of Houston was elected vice chairman, both unanimously, during a meeting of the governing board on July 26. “I thank the board for its vote in confidence in Vice Chairman White’s and my leadership. I look forward to working with each of them as we seek to educate our students and maintain stewardship over the System’s resources.” For more, go to http://sago-news.tamu.edu/releases/?p=250.

Maroon Out Sales Begin Aug. 27
The Texas A&M Class Councils are currently working to promote Maroon Out 2007 and will officially begin selling T-shirts on campus on Monday, Aug. 27. Maroon Out is an annual event in which all Aggies are encouraged to wear maroon for a specific home football game to unify the 12th Man and provide extra support for the team. This year's Maroon Out game is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 23, when the Aggies take on Texas. In an effort to include as many people as possible, Class Councils will be selling their specially designed Maroon Out T-shirts throughout the fall for $5 each. Shirts can be purchased online or at G. Rollie White Coliseum during the four hours leading up to every home football game. For further information on Maroon Out, go to http://maroonout.tamu.edu.

Hispanic Network Summit Set for Next Month
The 2007 Texas A&M Hispanic Network Summit will be held Thursday, Sept. 13, through Friday, Sept. 14, on the Texas A&M campus. Its theme will be “Promoting Hispanic Enrollment: A Tipping Point to Vision 2020.” The summit will address six key topics that are pertinent to Hispanic student enrollment at Texas A&M: recruitment and retention; financial aid and scholarships; Corps recruitment and retention; academic retention and success; co-curricular retention and success; and student-community action and involvement. First Yell Takes Place Aug. 31-Sept. 1
The ninth annual First Yell will be held Aug. 31-Sept. 1, in conjunction with the Texas A&M football game against Montana State. The featured event of the weekend will be a performance by comedians Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood on Friday, Aug. 31, in Reed Arena. Mochrie and Sherwood are best known for their work on ABC's improvisational comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway? and are touring in their critically acclaimed, two-man improv show, An Evening with Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood. First Yell 2007 will again open with performances by students at Texas A&M, which in the past have included the Singing Cadets, Aggie Wranglers, Freudian Slip and Percussion Studio.
