The Association of Former Students hosted a Heisman Watch Party Saturday night. With a crowd of about 1,000 filling Flores Hall and two overflow rooms in the Clayton W. Williams, Jr Alumni Center, the party is believed to be the largest gathering of Aggies to watch Johnny Manziel ’15 win the Heisman Trophy.

Taking the microphone before the big announcement, Porter S. Garner III ’79, President and CEO of The Association, welcomed the crowd, and A&M President Dr. R. Bowen Loftin ’71 congratulated the entire team and Aggie family for being part of this historic moment. Also speaking were Toney Hurd Jr. ’14, a defensive back on the football team; and Rep. Bill Flores ’76, Aggieland’s congressman. The Aggie Yell Leaders took the stage to teach a new yell called the “Heisman”.




Miss Rev was also in attendance. Adding to the celebration were 140 boxes of Double Dave’s pizza, more than 1,000 soft drinks and 500 bottles of water. Many thanks to Kroger for donating the water.

When Manziel was announced as winner, the room shook.
