Howdy, Class of '74!

We hope you celebrated our nation’s birthday this 4th of July while remembering those who fought to keep America a free nation. We truly believe our generation has been the most blessed of all times and for that we are so grateful. This October 3-5 we have planned an exciting weekend to celebrate our friendships, our lost Classmates, the memorable days on the campus of Texas A&M University, and to tell each other how much we mean to each other. Past Reunions have kindled our spirits of camaraderie and we have lost some of our beloved Classmates between each of the Reunions. Plan to be among us this October and celebrate our 40 Year Reunion.

Scott Eberhart and Cheryl Kruckemeyer have served as Class Agents for the past 10 years, and Alan Futrell has served for the past five years. It has been a privilege and honor for each of us. The experience has been rewarding beyond explanation, and we thank you for showing us your appreciation. We three will not return as Class Agents after this year, and new Classmates will take our places. This Reunion will be bittersweet for each of us, and we look forward to new leadership with fresh new ideas and events as we approach our 50th Anniversary Reunion.

Texas A&M continues to grow to new exciting heights in every aspect, and it is almost impossible to keep up with the activities. The passion for excellence continues to drive Aggie leaders to higher achievements and it is our responsibility as former students to insist that the integrity and honor instilled in us during our days on campus, is a mainstay of every decision.

God Bless America, God Bless Texas, and God Bless Class of ’74 and all Texas Aggies!

Your ’74 Class Agents,
Scott, Alan, Cheryl and Randy

Pictures Needed
Family pics! Kids pics! Grandkids pics! Travel pics! Campus pics! License plate pics! Aggie Muster pics! Tailgate party pics! Corps pics!

Class Agents and The Association staff are working on a new picture slide show to be shown during the '74 Reunion. We need YOUR pictures from our time at A&M, your Aggie-related experiences and events since graduation and previous Class Reunions. If you have any photos that you're willing to share, please send them via email to Class@AggieNetwork.com. These photos are a great addition to the Reunion and always give us a fun & smile-filled walk down '74 memory lane.

Senior Boots
Your Class Agents have received several requests for an opportunity to donate their senior boots to the Corps of Cadets. The Commandant of the Corps of Cadets, BG Joe Ramirez ’79, says he can accept no more than 20 pairs of boots. Therefore, if you would like to donate your boots that are in useable condition, please contact Scott Eberhart at 817-729-7476 or email ccrv1974@gmail.com and reserve your spot. We will make a group presentation to the Commandant at our business meeting on Saturday at our 40 Year Reunion. The donated boots will join a cache of over 100 pairs that are available for qualified seniors. Recipients are required to maintain them and return them in like usable condition. Not all boots are used each year.

Class Agent Elections
Judy Macha Brown, Randy Maness, Kyle McNeely and Robert Oliver have announced they will be running as a team for Class Agents.

Class Agents serve as a liaison between their Class and The Association. This is the perfect opportunity to get involved as a former student, stay connected to the university and help lead your Class in supporting A&M. Elections are held in conjunction with your Reunions, so now is your chance! As for your current Class Agents, Alan Futrell, Cheryl Kruckemeyer and Scott Eberhart are stepping down. Randy Maness hopes to represent the Class of ’74 for another five years, if elected.

Teams consist of two to five members of your Class and serve a five-year term. As a Class Agent you will serve on The Association of Former Students’ Leadership Council, which meets twice a year. The Association of Former Students provides orientation and resources to aid you in this role. Class Agents are responsible for keeping the Class informed through Newsletters, web sites and emails, planning Class events and providing annual fund information to former students.

Class Agent elections will be held at your Reunion. If you wish to serve as a Class Agent for our Class, you must contact the Class Programs staff at The Association of Former Students at Class@AggieNetwork.com or 979-845-7514 before the Reunion to get your name on the ballot. All nominations must be received by the Reunion Registration Deadline. For more information go to http://tx.ag/ClassAgent or email Class@AggieNetwork.com.

Weekend Selection Information
Your Reunion is on an away game weekend. Class Agents are responsible for selecting Reunion dates on behalf of their respective Classes. Since 2009, several Classes have held successful Reunions on away game weekends. Away game Reunions are nice because you won’t be dealing with problems like parking, traffic, exorbitant hotel costs, expensive football tickets or bad seats in bad weather. A typical couple usually pays around $1,000 to attend a Reunion on a home football game when you factor in all the costs. Another determining factor of having the Reunion on this weekend was that a block of football tickets for a Reunion during a conference home game is no longer an option now that we are in the SEC. Reunion feedback shows that participants want more “face time” in a quieter, relaxed atmosphere. This is why your Class Agents elected to choose this date for your Reunion in the fall.

The renovated Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center has a video wall that offers a great opportunity to watch the game. The big advantage to this approach is that the cost is cut in half with the opportunity to maximize the face time with your Classmates. Hotel room rates are reasonable on away games and in the event you don’t get your reservation in for the Reunion in time, you aren’t staying in Caldwell. You also have a more relaxed chance to see the campus without all the craziness of a home football game.

Attire
Your Reunion is going to be a fun, casual affair. All Classmates are encouraged to wear their Aggie maroon on Saturday. As far as the weather, it could be hot or cold, dry or rainy—remember, it’s early October in Aggieland!  So check the Weather Channel before you leave home, pack accordingly, and then still consider bringing the opposite of what they predicted!

Century Club supports Reunions
Your participation in the annual fund has a significant impact on the education experience of our students and provides the resources needed to support programs and activities for students and former students.  We appreciate that you choose to participate and support Aggies and Texas A&M.  Make a difference by donating now.
Levels of annual giving include:
Active - $1-$99
Bronze - $100-$249
Silver - $250-$499
Gold - $500-$999
Diamond - $1000-$1999
Double Diamond - $2000-$4999
Platinum - $5000-$9999
Double Platinum - $10,000 plus

Cancellation Policy
The Association of Former Students has a fairly flexible cancellation policy. If you cannot attend your Reunion, or an event for which you have registered, please contact the Former Student Programs office (800-633-7514) no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2014. Your payment will be refunded with the exception of a small handling fee. Registration changes after the September 12 deadline cannot be refunded as food orders will have been guaranteed.

Please make sure your Aggie Network profile is up-to-date with your current email and mailing address to ensure that you receive all upcoming communications regarding the weekend's activities.
