Howdy, Class of '83!

Please find attached all the details for our upcoming 30 Year Reunion in September. We can’t wait to see all of you! I’m sure there will be much to catch up on, many stories to tell, and maybe even some new ones made... We can’t make our Reunion a success without you. Please register early, so we can have the best idea on numbers for planning purposes. In addition, we have some homework for you.

First, The Association can only contact the people it has on its current Class roster, and they are never as complete as we would like. This means that there are many Classmates we’re not reaching. So, we’d like for each of you to make the effort to reach out to at least one other Classmate who may not have been in contact with you or The Association in the last few years, and invite them back into the Aggie family. Wouldn’t it be great to see some more long lost Classmates?

Second, scour you home archives. Have a look through your old yearbooks, scrapbooks and files, and see if you can find some old photos of our days at A&M. Send those along, so that we may share them again. In fact, if you have some “then” and “now” photos, that would be great. Send them to me at jr@aggienetwork.com, and I’ll collect them.

Now, you don’t have to go trim those few extra pounds, or buy that special outfit, or try to be who you were 30 years ago, we simply want to see you as you are now. Looking forward to see you all soon! Gig ’em!

Attire

Your Reunion is going to be a fun, casual affair. As far as the weather, it could be hot or cold, dry or rainy—remember, it’s September in Aggieland, so it will most likely be pretty hot! So check the Weather Channel before you leave home, pack accordingly, and then still consider bringing the opposite of what they predicted!

Transportation to all events is on your own. There will not be shuttle service to/from the Hilton. For parking and/or campus maps, visit the Transportation Services website: transport.tamu.edu. For Friday night, you can park in University Center Garage attached to Koldus for a small fee or the lots surrounding Kyle Field. For Saturday, you can park at the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center.

Class Agents

Class Agents serve as a liaison between their Class and The Association. This is the perfect opportunity to get involved as a former student, stay connected to the university and help lead your Class supporting A&M. Elections are held in conjunction with your Reunions, so now is your chance!

Teams consist of two to five members of your Class and serve a five-year term. As a Class Agent you will serve on The Association of Former Students’ Leadership Council, which meets twice a year. The Association of Former Students provides orientation and resources to aid you in this role. Class Agents are responsible for keeping the Class informed through newsletters, web sites and emails, planning Class events and providing annual fund information to former students.

Class Agent elections will be held at your Reunion. Class Agent teams will be allowed to speak during the business meeting at the Reunion, but the actual election will take place online after the Reunion to allow those not in attendance a chance to vote.

For more information go to http://tx.ag/ClassAgent, e-mail Class@AggieNetwork.com or call (800) 633-7514. All nominations must be received by the Reunion Registration Deadline.

Weekend Selection Information

Your Reunion is on an away game weekend. Class Agents are responsible for selecting Reunion dates on behalf of their respective Classes. Since 2009, several Classes have held successful Reunions on away game weekends. Away game Reunions are nice because you won’t be dealing with problems like parking, traffic, exorbitant hotel costs, expensive football tickets or bad seats in bad weather. A typical couple usually pays around $1,000 to attend a Reunion on a home football game when you factor in all the costs. Reunion feedback shows that participants want more “face time” in a quieter, relaxed atmosphere. This is why your Class Agents elected to choose this date for your Reunion in the fall. The renovated Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center has a 49 panel video wall that offers a great opportunity to watch the game. The big advantage to this approach is that the cost is cut in half with the opportunity to maximize the face time with your Classmates, and you get 50 yard line seats for the football game. Hotel room rates are reasonable on away games and in the event you don’t get your reservation in for the Reunion in time, you aren’t staying in Caldwell. You also have a more relaxed chance to see the campus without all the craziness of a home football game.

Stay Connected

The Association has gone green and only sends Newsletters electronically for our Class.  Please make sure your information is up-to-date with The Association so you can continue to receive communication from us via email.  Also, if you are on Facebook please join our group: http://tx.ag/83facebook.

Century Club Supports Reunions

Class Reunions and numerous other programs for former and current students are supported by donations to The Association of Former Students’ Century Club. Donors also receive special benefits.
