Howdy!

My favorite time of every five years is quickly approaching. That's our Class of '72 Reunion when I get to see many of my Ag buds and some for the first time in five, if not 40, years. You will all see the new format and that is having our Reunion on an "away game", vs. Alabama. I know this is different, but I am 110% for being able to have a not so pressured weekend, much less traffic, not so stringent time tables, less cost and just a chance to see everyone and talk about old times. We'll have our normal golf tournament on Friday and our opening reception that evening. What's new on Friday is some tours of athletic facilities not normally available when the game is at home. I think you'll be impressed. We have the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center reserved for the entire day Saturday. We'll start with breakfast at Joe Weber's home and then move to the Alumni Center to watch the game on the Huddleston Video Wall, eat, drink and just have plenty of time for good bull. I hope to see everyone. This really should be a special Reunion.
Gig 'em,
Cupe

As hard as it is to believe, 40 years has gone by since some of us graduated, while others stayed longer to soak up more of the ambiance of Aggieland. Many changes have happened since then, in many ways. There are lots of new buildings on campus, with a whole west campus across Wellborn Road. There are almost three times as many students, comparing 14,684 to almost 50,300. At 1,767, 12% of students then, females now number almost 23,600, or 47% of the student population. And, in case you haven't heard, we are now in our third athletic conference. After a year long build-up, Southeastern Conference football made its debut at Kyle Field last Saturday with ESPN College Game day on Simpson Drill Field, the 9th largest crowd ever at Kyle, the most watched college game of the day nationwide, and some really bad traffic for several days. Within a couple of days of the official announcement of our SEC membership, all hotel rooms in B/CS and surrounding towns were booked for the Florida and LSU games. Florida fans at the game were estimated at 8,000, with most all of them "sawing horns" at the end of the third quarter. LSU requested 12,000 more tickets than we offered, with more interest in our game than their games with Alabama, Auburn or Florida. The other big change has to do with our away game Reunion. When I first heard the idea, I didn't like it at all, but with some thought, the idea got better. The town and campus are ours that weekend. As Cupe says, we have gotten great feedback since making the announcement. So, contact all your old buds, male and female, Corps and civilian, on campus or off, and let's make this our biggest and best Reunion yet. Everyone should have a great time. We may all look a little different, so scoping a name tag or two may be necessary, but one thing hasn't changed - the Class of '72 is still the best Class A&M has produced. Don't miss out on the fun. See you in November.
Gig'em,
George

Friday Campus Tours

The tours of the athletic facilities on Friday afternoon will have bus transportation to and from the Hilton. The cost associated with the tour is to pay for the cost of the buses. Due to the number of buses we are able to get on a school day, we will only be able to hold 70 people on the buses for the tour. Everyone is welcome, but if you are not one of the first 70 to register, you will not be charged a bus fee and will have to use your own transportation to get to campus for the tours.

Attire

Your Reunion is going to be a fun, casual affair. As far as the weather, it could be hot or cold, dry or rainy—remember, it’s November in Aggieland! So check the Weather Channel before you leave home, pack accordingly, and then still consider bringing the opposite of what they predicted!

Transportation/Maps/Parking

Transportation to all events is on your own. Things may have changed on campus since your last visit. For parking and/or campus maps visit the Transportation Services website. On Friday, the buses will pick up on the west side of the Hilton for the campus tour (See Friday Campus Tours, above, for more information). There is parking available at the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center for Friday and Saturday events. You can also park at Koldus Parking Garage, just down the street from LTG Weber's House, for a small fee. For Dinner at the Chancellor Sharp's residence, parking will be in Lot 43 at the George Bush Presidential Library with bus transportation starting at 7 p.m. to the chancellor's residence across the street.
