Howdy!

In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the graduation of most of the Class of ’62 from Texas A&M, we will be gathering in College Station beginning Thursday, April 19 through Sunday, April 22, 2012 to celebrate this occasion. The Class will be the honored guests at the Campus Muster on Saturday evening. This year will also be the first time that the Brazos County A&M Club will hold a separate Muster off campus which will reduce the roll call and allow more seating on the floor for our Class. This will be our last full Class Reunion as an individual Class. When we celebrate our 55th Anniversary Reunion in 2017, we will be inducted into the Sul Ross Group which combines all Classes who have been out of A&M over 55 years and meets annually. We have been working to set up a full schedule of events and speakers from the Campus to give us a complete and up to date view of A&M-- from the Campus, the Student Body and the Leadership.

The Reunion Headquarters will be the Hilton Hotel with the Oakwood Ballroom serving as our exclusive meeting place. It is a very large room with a capacity of 400, so there will be plenty of room for everybody to visit and catch up. A cash bar will be operating most of the time and the room will be open between scheduled events. The room will provide an area for the display of any and all memorabilia from our time in Aggieland. Tables will be set up to show off all the items that you have saved for the last 50 years from our days in Aggieland. Please make sure to mark anything you bring so that it can be returned to you after the Reunion. The room will be locked up when we are not using it so all items can be left in the room throughout the Reunion and you can know they are safe.

Some highlights of some of our scheduled speakers and events are: Thursday - A golf tournament will be held for the early arrivals at 11:00 a.m. Dr. R. Bowen Loftin ’71, President of Texas A&M University, will address us at our opening night buffet. Friday – Starts out with a morning formation of the Corps and the raising of the flag in front of the Academic Building followed by a visit to the newly renovated Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center (the home of The Association of Former Students) with a talk by BG Joe Ramirez ’79, the Commandant of the Corps of Cadets, who will discuss his plans to “grow the Corps.” We hope to also have a Class of ’62 visit to the MSC Flag Room to view our Class Column. Our Class meeting will take place during the afternoon in the Oakwood Ballroom when we will select our new Class Agents who will lead us into the Sul Ross Group. The Class Dinner will include the local CIA agent, Mr. Jim Olson, as our featured speaker. Saturday – we left the morning open for outfit gatherings and breakfast on your own. Mid morning we will take a Class photo followed by a Campus bus tour, the formal reopening and tours of the renovated MSC, the Muster BBQ, and the Muster that evening at Reed Arena. Sunday - A farewell breakfast buffet will be held in the morning with both the Student Body President and the Corps Commander speaking to us prior to our adjourning.

So, make your plans to attend and then call your classmates and encourage them to also attend. The schedule allows for multiple opportunities to enjoy “FACE” time with all of your old buddies.

Gig ’em and see you there.

Class Agent Elections

Class Agents serve as a liaison between their Class and The Association. This is the perfect opportunity to get involved as a former student, stay connected to the university and gain some volunteer service. Elections are held in conjunction with your Reunions, so now is your chance!

Teams consist of three to four members of your Class and serve a five-year term. As a Class Agent you will serve on The Association of Former Students’ Leadership Council, which meets twice a year. The Association of Former Students provides orientation and resources to aid you in this role. Class Agents are responsible for keeping the Class informed through newsletters, web sites and emails, planning Class events and providing annual fund information to former students.   You will be electing new Class Agents at this Reunion:  Your current Class Agents have decided to not run for re-election.  The new Class Agents will begin their five-year term at the conclusion of the Reunion.

For more information go to www.AggieNetwork.com/ClassAgent. Email Class@AggieNetwork.com or call 800-633-7514 prior to your Reunion to get your name on the ballot!

Welcome Back Class of 1962

On behalf of all the students of Texas A&M University, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back home to the Texas A&M Campus for your 50 Year Class Reunion to be held April 21, 2012. I have been privileged this year to have been selected to serve as your liaison to the Muster Committee as well as being fortunate enough to work with your Class Agents in order to assure that your Reunion is well organized and truly memorable.

The Muster Committee this year is composed of 30 students dedicated to planning every aspect of the on-campus Muster Ceremony. Our members arrange each event for the celebration of the tradition: everything from compiling the Roll Call for the Absent, planning the Muster Camaraderie BBQ in conjunction with the Class of ’62, and selecting a speaker who will deliver the address at the ceremony the night of Muster. This year we are fortunate to have Dr. John Hoyle ’57 as our guest speaker and are eagerly awaiting his genuine presence here at the A&M Campus.

We are excitedly awaiting your return to campus and hope that you will all enjoy your stay here with us in Aggieland for this year’s Muster.

Muster Reflections

In order to more fully recognize the lives of our honored Aggies that will be acknowledged at the Campus Muster Ceremony, personal items will be displayed as a living memorial to these Roll Call honorees. Family members of honorees submit photographs, letters, stories or other personal items which reflect on their friend or loved one’s life. This display will offer a look into who these Aggies were, what they did, and how they touched the lives of those around them. The items will be displayed in Rudder Exhibit Hall on Thursday, April 19 and Friday, April 20 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., and Memorial Student Center Flag Room on Saturday, April 21 from MSC opening to 3:00 p.m.

You may either coordinate a time to bring items to the Reflections Display Chairs or send them by mail to:
