Classes which have been graduated 55 years or more form a special Class of former students. This group, known as the Sul Ross Group is named after former Texas Governor and A&M President Lawrence Sullivan Ross. This group has its own officers and bylaws.
Originally, the Sul Ross group was made up of the Classes which attended school while Ross was president from 1891 to 1898. However, in 1984 the group was further expanded to include each subsequent Class on its 55th anniversary.
Members of the honor Class attending their 55th anniversary Reunion are presented "Golden Circle" certificates. These certificates recognize them for their devoted interest in Texas A&M during the 55 years since their student days on campus.
The Sul Ross group holds its annual Reunion on campus in the spring. Many Classes in the group continue to have their own Class get-togethers and dinners in conjunction with the annual Sul Ross Reunion.
