The Association Announces 2004 Distinguished Alumni
The Association of Former Students has announced the recipients of Texas A&M's
highest honor, the Distinguished Alumnus Award. The award recognizes
outstanding Aggies and celebrates their professional success, service to Texas
A&M and contributions to their communities. This year's recipients are Dionel
E. Aviles '53, John David Crow '58, Joe B. Mattei '53, and Carl F. Raba, Jr.

2004 Outstanding International Alumnus Named
Texas A&M University and The Association of Former Students have named Alberto
Alemán Zubieta '73 of Panama as the 2004 Texas A&M University Outstanding
International Alumnus. Alemán graduated from Texas A&M with dual degrees in
industrial and civil engineering. He is the administrator of the Panama Canal
and is responsible for achieving maximum efficiency in its administration,

Aggies Run for the Ring
The Association of Former Students and Traditions Council sponsored the 3rd
Annual Run for the Ring Saturday, March 6, 2004. Run for the Ring is a 5K
run/walk through the Texas A&M campus. The names of participants who entered
and finished the race, regardless of what place they finished, were placed in a
drawing for a variety of door prizes including four Aggie Rings. To read more

Singing Cadets to Perform During Parents' Weekend
Don't miss out on your chance to hear the voice of Aggieland in concert on

Campus Space Reallocation Plan Available Online
The plan for reallocating more than 150,000 square feet of space in a number of
buildings on the Texas A&M University campus was recently presented to the
campus community at an open forum hosted by the Council on the Built
Environment (CBE) in Rudder Theatre. The space reallocation is the first step
in the council's actions in support of the Faculty Reinvestment Plan intended
to improve the student-faculty ratio and reduce class size. Information about
the reallocation of space, including a copy of the presentation given at the

Off Campus Aggies will host it's 13th Annual Parents' Weekend Golf Tournament
on April 17, 2004. The tournament is a two-man scramble and will be held at the
TAMU Golf Course beginning at 8:00 a.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided,

Save the Date: Civil Engineering Reunion and Barbecue
Attention civil engineering alumni! Pull out your calendars and circle November
6, 2004 for the Department of Civil Engineering's annual Reunion and Barbecue
Lunch. The reunion will be held once again on the front lawn of the Civil
Engineering Building shortly before the Aggies BTHO Oklahoma. More details will
be available as they are finalized on the Department of Civil Engineering's web
