2005 Coach's Tour to Begin June 6
The 2005 Coach's Tour featuring Head Football Coach Dennis Franchione is set to
kick off on Monday, June 6, in Fort Worth. A great time of fellowship,
camaraderie and raising money for scholarships, Coach's Nights are an Aggie
experience like no other. We hope to see you at the next Coach's Night where
you'll get the inside scoop on the Fightin' Texas Aggie Football team from
Coach Fran.

White '70, Jones '81 Elected Chairman, Vice Chairman of Board
of Regents
John D. White '70 of Houston was elected chairman of The Texas A&M University
System Board of Regents, and Bill Jones '81 of Austin was elected vice
chairman, during a meeting of the nine-member governing board on May 26. White
replaces Lowry Mays '57, who has served as chairman since 2003, and Jones
replaces Erle Nye '59, who has served as vice chairman since 2003 and
previously served as chairman. Both White and Jones were appointed to the board

Feedback Needed on Constituent Networks
Following approval by the Leadership Council in October of 2003, Constituent
Networks are now set to be included as integral components of The Association,
and since January, a team of former students has worked diligently to develop a
procedure to charter these groups. The Association would like your feedback as
we continue to incorporate Constituent Networks as a part of our organization.

awards celebration on campus in October, and winners will also be featured in

Corregidor Muster Reunion Scheduled
A Corregidor Muster Reunion is set for April 21, 2006, during the campus Muster
Ceremony. The Reunion will celebrate the 60th anniversary of this famous
Muster, held on Corregidor Island in 1946. If you or a fellow Aggie were a part

Commencement Ceremonies Honor 5,044 Graduates
Degrees were bestowed upon 5,044 graduates during four commencement ceremonies
at Texas A&M University on Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14. Commencement
speakers included H.B. Zachry, Jr. '54, chairman of the board for Zachry Group,
Inc.; U.S. Congressman Chet Edwards '74; Marvin J. Girouard '61, chairman and
CEO of Pier 1 Imports; and Dr. J. Martyn Gunn, 2004-2005 speaker of the faculty
senate and professor of biochemistry and biophysics at Texas A&M. For more on

Women's Softball Team Claims First Conference Championship
The Texas A&M women's softball team claimed its first conference championship
this season and posted an all-time best 14-4 league mark. The Aggies clinched
the regular season title thanks to losses by Oklahoma and Baylor and a win over
No. 6 Texas in front of a Big 12 record crowd and a national television
audience on April 27. Head coach Jo Evans was named Conference Coach of the
Year for the second consecutive season, and freshman sensation Amanda
Scarborough earned Big 12 Freshman and Player of the Year awards. For the

President Gates Says No Name Changes for Kyle Field
Although exchanging naming rights for multimillion-dollar donations continues
to be a trend among college football programs, Texas A&M University President
Dr. Robert M. Gates recently announced that Kyle Field would undergo no such
name change. The announcement came as a response to recent rumors that the
facility might be renamed. Gates issued an email memo to Texas A&M students
stating, "Aggie traditions and spirit are not for sale." Gates went on to say,
"The rumor is false. Kyle Field will always remain Kyle Field no matter what

Brown-Rudder Awards Presented to Anthis and Josefy
Texas A&M University's Brown Foundation-Earl Rudder Memorial Outstanding
Student Award, the highest honor bestowed each May upon a graduating senior,
was presented to Nicholas Jay Anthis '05 of Fort Worth and Matthew Alan Josefy
'04 of Graham during spring commencement ceremonies. Each of the Brown-Rudder
Award recipients receives a check for $5,000 and a framed certificate. Anthis,
a biochemistry major, has been selected as a Rhodes Scholar and will join 32
other Rhodes Scholars selected this year at Oxford University in October.
Josefy, who graduated with a master of science degree in finance and a bachelor
of business administration degree in accounting last December, served as
student body president at Texas A&M for 2003-2004 while maintaining a 3.938

Presidential Teaching Excellence Award Recipients Announced
The 2005 recipients of Texas A&M University's $25,000 presidential teaching
excellence awards -- believed to be the highest monetary stipends in the nation
for such annual awards from a single institution -- are Professor of Accounting
Martha L. Loudder and Associate Professor of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences
and of Animal Science Laurie A. Jaeger. David E. Bergbreiter, professor of
chemistry, and Ann L. Kenimer, associate professor of biological and
agricultural engineering, were named runners-up and received $10,000 awards.

Texas A&M Hosts NCAA Men's Tennis Championships
Texas A&M is currently hosting the 2005 Division I Men's Tennis Championships
at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center. Competition between the nation's final
16 teams took place from May 21-24, and individual competition will last
through May 30. The No. 16-seeded Texas A&M team was one of 16 remaining teams
after beating Montana State and Boise State in each of the first two rounds.
The Aggies subsequently lost on Saturday to the No. 1-ranked Baylor squad,
extending the Bears' 55-match winning streak. A&M made their sixth straight

Price Receives Bush Excellence Award for Public Service
Edwin C. Price, associate vice chancellor for international agriculture at
Texas A&M University, was presented the 2005 Bush Excellence Award for
outstanding public service at ceremonies recently on campus. Price, who is also
a professor of agricultural economics, was honored for his work with the Texas
A&M System faculty and staff on projects in 40 countries that are valued at
more that $37 million. During the past five years, he has overseen the
development of nine new study abroad programs and the introduction of

Johnson Relieved of Head Coaching Duties
Aggie Head Baseball Coach Mark Johnson has been relieved of head coaching
duties at Texas A&M, Director of Athletics Bill Byrne announced on May 23. "I
respect and admire Mark for his character and he has always represented Texas
A&M with a great deal of class and integrity," Byrne said. "However, our
baseball program did not meet our expectations, and I feel we need a change in
direction." Texas A&M ended the 2005 season with a 30-25-1 overall record and
finished in 9th place in the Big 12 Conference with a final league mark of
