Aggie Hostel 2005
On June 5, The Association of Former Students welcomed 43 guests to College Station for Aggie Hostel 2005. Aggie Hostel is a five-day conference in which former students, spouses and friends of Texas A&M over the age of 60 are invited back to campus to enjoy courses taught by university personnel, tours of local places of interest and special evening events. During their stay, participants lived in a contemporary student residence hall and were accompanied throughout the week by a dedicated group of student hosts. The week's activities provided guests with an excellent chance to reacquaint themselves with Texas A&M's evolving campus, student population and areas of academic interest. For more information on this year's Aggie Hostel, please visit www.AggieNetwork.com/events/hostel.aspx.

Get Involved -- Run for Class Agent
Class Agents serve as a liaison between their Class, The Association of Former Students and Texas A&M. This is the perfect opportunity to get involved as a former student, stay connected to the university and gain some volunteer service. Elections are held every five years, in conjunction with your reunion. If your Class is meeting this fall, now is your chance! Teams consist of 3 to 4 members of your Class and serve a five-year term. As a Class Agent, you will serve on The Association of Former Students' Leadership Council, which meets twice a year. The Association of Former Students provides orientation and resources to aid you in this role. Class Agents are responsible for keeping the Class informed through newsletters, Web sites and emails; planning Class events; and providing Annual Fund information to former students. For more information go to www.AggieNetwork.com/ClassAgent or email Class@Aggienetwork.com.

Franchione Gives A&M $1 Million

Only four schools in the Big 12 Conference - A&M, Baylor, Colorado and Oklahoma State - do not have indoor football practice facilities. A&M has had plans for a multipurpose indoor facility for some time, and Franchione said he wants the $1 million gift to help entice more donations for the facility. "We hope our gift can serve as one of the catalysts that helps move the project forward," Franchione said Saturday on his Web site, CoachFran.com. The proposed 5,000-seat, multi-sport indoor practice facility is expected to be built close to the football team's grass practice fields near the corner of George Bush Drive and Wellborn Road.
