Fall Reunions Bring Classmates Together
One thing that sets Texas A&M apart from many other schools is the camaraderie we share through the Aggie Network. An excellent way to take part in that camaraderie is by attending our Class Reunions. If you are wondering when your Class will have its next Reunion, it may be sooner than you think. Go to www.AggieNetwork.com/Reunions to see what Reunions are being held this fall. If your Classmates already get together on a regular basis to watch football games, have an annual barbecue, go on a fishing trip or just share good bull stories, be sure to send us pictures of your group enjoying these activities. For more information on how to submit them, email Class@AggieNetwork.com or call our former student programs staff at (979) 845-7514.

Aggie Astronaut Returns Safely From Mission
Mike Fossum '80 and the rest of the Space Shuttle Discovery crew landed safely at NASA's Kennedy Space Center on July 17, following a mission that by all accounts was a resounding success. Fossum, a mission specialist, participated in three separate spacewalks during the 13-day, five million-mile journey, along with fellow astronaut Piers Sellers. The primary purpose of the mission-just the second to take place since the Columbia tragedy of 2003-was to test safety improvements on the shuttle and perform work on the International Space Station. For more on Fossum and the mission, named STS-121, go to www.nasa.gov or see our feature in the upcoming Texas Aggie magazine.

First Yell Takes Place Sept. 1-2
The eighth annual First Yell will be held September 1-2 in conjunction with the Texas A&M football game against The Citadel. The featured event of the weekend will be a performance by comedian Wayne Brady on Friday, September 1 in Reed Arena. Brady is best known for his work on ABC's improvisational comedy show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" as well as "The Wayne Brady Show." He will headline the show, which in the past has featured such guests as Bill Cosby, Jeff Foxworthy, Martin Short and Bill Engvall. As has been done in previous years by such acts as the Singing Cadets, Aggie Wranglers, Freudian Slip and Percussion Studio, First Yell 2006 will again open with performances by Texas A&M students. For more information, go to http://yell.tamu.edu .

Life Sciences Building a Landmark Project
On May 26, Texas A&M University President Dr. Robert M. Gates, along with other officials, broke ground on the $95 million Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building. Scheduled for completion in the summer of 2008, the 220,000 square-foot facility is the largest construction project in the university's 130-year history. The building, located north of Simpson Drill Field at the corner of Old Main and Houston Street, will be equipped with state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories, further pushing Texas A&M to the forefront in both research and teaching. This facility is just one of many construction projects for Texas A&M that total more than $300 million, making it one of the most ambitious new facilities programs being pursued by any school in the nation. For more information, go to http://ilsb.tamu.edu/ground-broken-for-ilsb.html/ .

Kyle Field Video Board Under Construction
When Aggie football fans take the stands in Kyle Field this fall, they will have a new perspective on the game. That's because construction is currently under way on a 3,900 square-foot video board in the south end zone. The screen will measure 53 feet by 73 feet, making it the second largest video board of its kind in any collegiate facility in the nation. The new structure will stand 110 feet off the ground and will be seven times the size of the structure it's replacing. The new video board will be officially unveiled when the Aggies kick-off the 2006 football season against The Citadel on Sept. 2. For more on this story, go to http://www.aggieathletics.com/pressRelease.php?PRID= 11534 or http://www.aggieathletics.com/gallery/kylevideo/.
