Men's Basketball Team Looks to Post-Season Play for First
Time Since '94
Just one year after chalking up a dismal 0-16 conference record, the Aggie
men's basketball team now finds itself on the cusp of postseason play as one of
the most improved teams nationwide with an 11-game turnaround thus far. Under
the direction of first-year head coach Billy Gillispie, the Aggies have
achieved a 7-7 (18-7 overall) conference record thus far, their most wins in
Big 12 play since the league's inception. With two conference games remaining
at No. 4 Oklahoma State and Baylor, an NIT berth looks probable for the Aggies
with the possibility of hosting up to two games at Reed Arena. Even an NCAA bid
is possible, especially if the Ags can win their last two conference games and
do well in the Big 12 tournament. The Aggies' seventh conference win came in
dramatic fashion February 26 when they handily defeated No. 25 Texas Tech 85-63
before a record crowd of 13,136 at Reed. For more on this story, visit http://www.aggieathletics.com/pressRelease.php?PRID=9420.
