This exceptional journey was co-crafted by Tauck and the award-winning documentary filmmaker, Ken Burns, creator of “The Civil War,” one of American public television’s highest-rated series.
Most Hallowed Ground masterfully leads you along the footsteps of history to develop a deeper understanding of the war and its legacies. Learn about the way of life in the prewar South, the realities of slavery and plantation life as forces that led to the war, the human cost of the war, its ironies, and the remarkable advances made by field surgeons caring for those injured in battle. Hear the stories of Abraham Lincoln, Robert E. Lee, John Brown and others. Highlights include guided visits, living history reenactments and unique access to some of the war’s most significant sites; private presentations by historians; a behind-the-scenes tour at the National Archives; and an interactive museum experience in which guests get a personalized view of the life of one of the war’s unsung heroes by assuming the identity of an actual Confederate or Union soldier. Throughout, film vignettes by Ken Burns offer his unique perspectives on the terrible conflict and its role in shaping the nation we live in today.
