W. R. Buford
Born: December 10, 1915
Died: January 29, 2014
Location: Terrell, Texas
W.R. Buford, of Terrell, passed away January 29, 2014 in Dallas. W.R. was born Dec. 10, 1915 in Terrell, Tx to Maury Z. and Faye (Wolfe), both of whom preceded him in death along with his wife,Pauline Buford and son-in-law, Gary Dodd.
W.R. grew up in Terrell and graduated from Terrell High School in 1931 at the age of 16. He attended and graduated from Texas A&M in 1936 after which he proudly served in the US Army during WWII. He returned home to Terrell where he opened Buford Drug in 1951 and operated it until 1966. He then owned and operated Buford Hardware from 1966 to 1985. In 1985, W.R. retired and made spending time with his family his priority. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather who made sure that his work ethic was passed on. His service to the community of Terrell will be a legacy for his family to cherish along with his memory.
W.R. is survived by his son, Bill Buford and wife Susan of Terrell, and Ann Buford Dodd of Terrell; grandchildren: Maury Buford and wife, Carolyn, of Garland, Cate Kenny and husband, Greg, of Evergreen, Co.; great grandchildren: Jocelyn, Sydney, Lila, Fiona, Brynn, Cohen, and Lochlan; brother, Joe Buford of Mt. Pleasant as well as several extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral service will be at 10:00am, Friday, January 31, 2014 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel with interment to follow at Mt. Carmel in Wolfe City, TX. The family will receive friends 6-8pm, Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the funeral home.
